Kingdom Hearts II | 2005 | Playstation 2

dir. Tetsuya Nomura / prod. Shinji Hashimoto & Yoshinori Kitase - SQUARE-ENIX - Action RPG

If you've been following me on my blog or twitter, you probably know this story by now, but my first encounter with KH2 was during my summer vacation when I was 10-11 years old. I was staying with my cousins at the house of one of their aunts and their eldest son had a modded PS2, so one day after swimming in the pool we went inside to play videogames and chose this DVD with a chickenscratched "KH2" on it. I immediately knew it was by SQUARE ENIX, but I was still blown away by Utada Hikaru's angelic voice in the opening credits and the gorgeous graphics. We got the gist of the situation but later found out we had to play with none of the disney characters that appeared in dream-esque flashbacks and none of the characters featured, excluding the blond kid from the end: Roxas. We couldn't have gotten farther than Axel's introduction, but I knew I needed to play the game. I later searched for the game or its prequel [later finding out that the previous game had been a Gameboy Advance release?!] everywhere for a few months, I even got my hands on the first OST, before I finally bought it.
It's still one of my favorite KH games, and one of my favorite game franchises ever, I don't joke when I say that our lives changed after that fateful summer day.
