than any conversation between Majima and Kiryu... and it's super obvious, specially in the 8Infinite Weath memories; like with Saejima, Kiryu-chan gets all poetic and likens him to the vastness of the ocean [yeah, you found the guy washed up outside your home...] and says that he's the kind of man that another man could fall in love with?, whereas with the other guy, he barely remembers anything at all! One of the memories is even tied to Ryuji! and that just kills me, it's hysterical. *angrily wiping my nosebleed* I'm snorting that 冴桐 dust, kitties inside a basket unite ! don't let the dog in !!
Of course I'm not comparing levels of affection among them, just tangible emotional closeness. *nods*

As in: me when I get yelled at and get hit as well by my boss, who afterwards looks at their favorite person with sparkly eyes kyun!
Like: when my boss places blind trust in their favorite person to make their dreams come true, by helping them in ways others might deem excessive, obsessive, or even cruel—yet that person understands it is absolutely necessary to achieve their goal!... Park-san and Majima are way too similar, their divorce is very divisive for Obvious Reasons, but at the same time I find it super interesting story-wise...Alternatively, when I reach the very top, the pinnacle of what everyone in my field covets, and then...after achieving it, I walk away from it all in a single day... Haruka-chan and Kiryu-chan are one and the same! Something-something, the sins of the father are the sins of the daughter, something-something.
I know there are people who follow a similar line of reasoning to argue that they parallel the aborted fetus → referring to Park-san seeing Haruka as a daughter and Majima seeing Kiryu as a son* [based on Yakuza patriarchal hierarchies].
Actually, most people just jump straight to the "nuclear family" comparison without detangling the power dynamics + hierarchies in both relationships, booo !!

Like, Kiryu looks all mopey while thinking and confronting Majima on why he lied to him and in turn, Majima looks dejected and answers that he was doing his best to honor the promise he made to Kiryu-chan...OTL. Everyone is always giving Kiryu-chan a hard time for "not demonstrating how much he appreciates Majima", but to be honest, he does show it quite a lot... Just not with words, he's bad at those! It's one of his charm points AND a fatal flaw! See the following examples:
a. He's glad to see that Majima is still alive and smiles for 0.5 seconds even when the guy has a parlor girl held hostage... clearly he trusts his nii-san a 100% to not hurt a girl [You'd Never Guess. *head in hands*]
b. Even when Majima is threatening to "ruin" [huh?] him if he dares to lose against Ryuji, Kiryu-chan looks at him all sparkly eyed and replies with a soft "ああ"... gotta love when they make a full sentence out of a simple affirmation sound. LOL
c. He's so distressed to watch Majima get taken into custody for some jail-time... we'll never get propper subtitles for "兄さん" and it kills me... Kiryu-chan goes out of his way to call him nii-san even if he's been out of the yakuza life for years... that's his nickname for him... affectionate nickname ( ˘ ɜ˘) ♬♪♫ 
SO YEAH, I hate it when people say that Kiryu doesn't care for Majima at all... as if he wasn't the detonator to get Kiryu into action in 5...all because of that extra scene in 極1 (╯°益°)╯彡┻━┻ It’s much more "yaoi fuel" for him to trust Majima enough to know he'll be okay, as opposed to treating them like a burden that needs saving or protecting... If it's any consolation, the Japanese text says he's worried about Majima, but there are people he needs to meet urgently.
It's a solid foundation for Fujo Delusions that Majima is one of the few people Kiryu can trust a 100% on not getting himself killed, because it means that he can entrust others to Majima and he can rely on him like as a good, old nii-san. Errr... Moving on, it pisses me off just as much as people who say that Majima must have resented Kiryu from day one because he dumped all his responsibilities on him... What you have to understand is that Kiryu is the ultimate "anti-ask-for-help-3000tron" That's precisely why it's so significant that he actually asks Majima for favors; and that he actually feels like he can rely on Majima for almost anything in the first place!! Ugh!

Recently, it came to my attention while lurking twitter that many fujos were talking at the same time about the scene with Kiryu and Watase in 5; and I love that scene 'cause I adore Watase *nods*. The thing that caught my attention tho was that I read the kanji for flower in his dialog and it had me drawing blanks, then I saw the screenshots for the korean translation and also read the hangul for flower... [華|꽃 = .....power ? that's not it! (`へ´*)ノ ].
So I went: Wait a minute? He never said anything about a flower?? Sooo off I went to yt in order to search for the scene and actually listen to what was being said and was very happy to find out that Watase-san has a wonderful way with words, as his dialogs goes:
JPN:見栄もなければ、欲もない。そんでも、その行動全てに“華”がある。
………………せやからその華の匂いを一度嗅いだモンは、 皆アンタの幻影を追い続ける。
TL: Nor vanity nor greed, you have neither. And yet, every action of yours posesses a certain "charm" [with the kanji for flower]...Which is why, anyone that has caught that flower's scent will keep chasing after your illusion.
Official ENG: You've got no ego, and even less ambition. Yet your every move draws crowds to you. Anyone who gets a whiff of that power you got will follow ya to the ends of the earth.
SO. I've got a bone to pick with the official translation! While it's not an incorrect one, it takes out a lot of characterization from Watase himself! He's the boss of his own family, he's got that old-fashioned yakuza flair, he even holds Goda Ryuji in high regards...Of course the man is going to get all poetic with flowery words if he has Kiryu Kazuma sitting in front of him after going all the way up from Osaka to meet him! He's genuinely interested in drinking, talking and fighting with Kiryu [too bad Kiryu doesn't believe even half of it, yet, LOL].
The flirty, errr, flowery language fits his oldschool charm to be poetic out of nowhere... huh. "charm" would be a better word than "power"... but it lacks that refined mannerism. Also, the image of "people chasing the fragrance/illusion left behind" by Kiryu-- Rather the man himself, is a lot more fitting to how everyone abstracts Kiryu as a legend, and even MORE SO when you know Watase is going to mention Daigo falling into that category afterwards! [to Kiryu's visible anger, LOLx2].
This takes me to another tangent, that's related to this don't worry....
Kiryu's name. ∠( ᐛ 」∠)_
桐[KIRI: Paulownia tomentosa,empress tree, foxglove tree] - 生[U: Life, genuine, birth]
The omission of the flower comparison stuff keeps driving me mad !! Because I love it when you can connect a name to individual traits or themes of a character (and I love to fujo out thank you Watase).
Apparently, the paulownia's flowers (tubular, foxglove-like and usually violet) are characterized by their strong, vanilla-ish aroma so that.... fits quite nicely with the whole chasing after a fragrance trail imagery, and in turn, that fits the whole chasing after the idea of the man rather the man himself that many characters tend to have in relation to Kiryu as I said before :P
Other interesting stuff I found about the paulownia tree:
1. It grows best in full sun however its a fast growing tree that tolerates well unfavorable conditions such as partial shade, poor soil, polluted air and coastal conditions however its growth is slowed & its life span is shortened if planted in the city. its timber is relatively fire resistant, however the branches are susceptible to strong winds. It has very big, heart-shapped leaves that produce dense shade, and so they make it difficult for other plants to grow under it → LOL what did Miss Park tell him about his kids.
2. 昔は、女の子が生まれたらキリの樹を植え、嫁に行くときに箪笥などを作って嫁入り道具にすると言われていたと聞いたことがあります。→ ok. so the trees were kept around until the daughter got married. Ok.
3. "The notes with the haiku say this (in part): The term ‘one leaf’ in a Japanese haiku is code for paulownia (kiri in Japanese). The fast-growing tree’s leaves drop throughout the year and symbolise loneliness and connote the past." → who's lonely without his kids and constantly stuck in the past ?

he was jealous, insecure and envious of a love that was given to him in a silver platter without him ever noticing due to his greed and insecurities... Nontheless, I have a bit more appreciation for Nishiki in this replay of the first game, just because I started thinking about what I said earlier this year.
I love how Kiryu took it for granted that Nishiki knew how much he loved him, even though ten years of absence completely wrecked Nishiki and turned him into insecurity-tron3000. It really fascinates me to fantasize about the things Kiryu would've agreed to hadn't Nishikiyama turned into a greedy asshole without a code of honor to withhold, considering Kiryu gave in a lot to Nishikiyama [even tho he's stubborn as hell].
It’s incredible how the whole house of cards collapses when all three of them are involved if you count Yumi. Did Kazama-san know? Is that why he told Kiryu at the start not to get involved when Dojima took her? If he knew, would it have been in his agenda to take just Yumi out of the equation? or maybe it was a two birds one stole deal with Nishiki included?
Nishikiyama-Mr. Inconsistency: "I love Yumi" → "Yumi, you must hate me" → "Kiryu, I don't know if I hate you." [missing: → I love Kiryu from the RGGOnline story]. At the end of the day, their makeshift little house collapsed because Nishiki himself didn't know what he wanted and used Yumi as a scapegoat and vessel.... 
BTW, I love how Kiryu misinterprets Nishiki's words and jumps to his own conclusions while Nishiki gets mad about it only for Nishiki to misinterpret Kiryu's body language later on... that look would kill men far less dense than you. Nishikiyama you weak man, how could you fumble Kiryu this bad...
I wonder if we would've survived had Kiryu used the tactic he used on Ebina a decade later...nah, Nishiki would've died of a cardiac arrest way earlier most likely lol. Or maybe he's stronger than any man in RGG for being immune to Kiryu's pleas... That whole thing was necessary for Kiryu to reach the catastrophic levels of "sultry widow" that pack a one-hit KO with an added status effect that makes you rethink your entire life in under ten words ∠( ᐛ 」∠)_
And that skill had TWO updates after 1! The first upgrade happens after 3 [Post-Rikiya... crying] with Saejima considering how adorable Kiryu looks, like... they fought and Saejima left wearing Kiryu's clothes AND his whole worldview completely rearranged lmaoo
The second upgrade was the way he managed to charm Watase in 5 to the point where Watase dedicated a poem, a drink, a fight, EVERYTHING in a pack to him [it was amazing].
As opposed to his accidental tactic with Rikiya in 3 and Someya in 6, in which Kiryu used his secret Single Mom-allure [ehem]... ( ˘ ɜ˘) ♬♪♫ They're exactly the kind of guys who'd fall for that........

Something incredible happened at the end of IW—the culmination of two whole games spent deliberately putting Kiryu in questionable poses and situations with men. It was an event of *such* magnitude during the emotional climax that it completely threw me off... if it weren't for the fact that it happens right at the very end, I think every SNS would be flooded with screencaps of that moment. I think. After staring at the TV with my brother— both of us with our jaws literally open— and after crying with the ending; I marinated the event in my head and ended up scooping the internet for people reacting to the scene in question... but to my surprise not many people talk about it which is a given considering
A) It's an endgame spoiler
B)The lucky* guy is not a prominent character
C)I read many people denying that there was a purposeful erotic framing of the scene → which is ridiculous, something can be sad and portrayed in a sexualized manner at the same time. Somehow. These yt comments are a 1:1 reenactment of my reaction: 
[TL: 42:16 Floor KABEDON | Hah? Kiryu-chan and Ebina in what kind of situation are they while talking?? hah??? *emoji covering just one eye and peeking with the other*]
Like, I'm sorry but I NEED to fujo out for a bit. 
Kiryu crying on top of Ebina as his tears fall onto Ebina's face while straddling the guy's leg.........caging him in with his arms.... I really like that as a trope, I'm a BIG fan of one guy crying on top of the other to their utter shock..... so I'm still speechless that it actually happened ? In my RGG 8: Infinite Wealth game? I neeeed to know how the dev team came up with the idea to frame it like that!! That shot that showed Kiryu's back from the waist up [and tattoo, obviously] and Ebina's face slighlty peeking-from-behind Kiryu's shoulder was a total killer. I know they draw inspiration from yakuza movies and V-Cinema but they haven't done this kind of thing [visually] in a while!!
Ebina was fighting his demons during that scene, and those apparently include a boner _:(´ཀ`」 ∠):_____
Like, I can't even get mad at the fact that I didn't really care about him as a character, not when they hit me with the ( ・∀・)・・・ fujobeam3000 ONE HIT KO 腐が如く--------☆
They just shattered a million guys' hearts in universe who would've [and have] DIED to be on Ebina's place? Just last game we had Nishitani Homare the 3rd shamelessly rubbing one out because of Kiryu.... whats next....

First of all, I'm surprised at how in sync Kiryu is with what's going through Ichiban's head, mostly because Kiryu isn't stupid [contrary to popular belief...] and he can read people pretty well when he wants to and his own hang-ups™ aren't preventing him from doing so. But for this very same reason, it makes me laugh that Kiryu acknowledges that he's completely unable of understanding Majima, even though we see them synchronizing perfectly during fights! And Majima's pretty straigh-forward with Kiryu-chan, right?
Nah, it's Majima's head that he can't get into. And it's not so much that Kiryu doesn't try [his efforts are quite mediocre tho], but rather it's Majima that has a solid track record of putting up a giant wall to keep people from getting to know him and of being emotionally unavailable. Which I find super fascinating, because Majima goes out of his way to help people only to end up:
a) leaving for one reason or another because he thinks it's for the best, like he did with Mirei and Makoto, or
b) staying, as his did for Saejima and Daigo; but he's just as unreachable emotionally-wise.
Regarding his relationship--err--friendship with Kiryu, they have enormous amounts of mutual trust, but Kiryu knows he's not allowed inside Majima's thoughts and feelings, making the situation and their friendship confusing.
As opposed to Kiryu's relationship--ummmm-friendship, with Ichiban.
They trust eachother, but they also allow themselves to understand each other. As spectators, we KNOW that Majima would do the impossible, especially for his precious Kiryu-chan, without being asked to--no strings attached! Because we're spectators who've watched their interactions. Obviously, Kiryu doesn't know this AT ALL. He only knows that he can rely on his nii-san to muscle throughout anything if needed, lol. For example, Kiryu and Saejima had way more conversations, and thus, a connection that led to mutual trust and emotional openness in 4&5. Which is NOT the case for Kiryu and Majima in 5 chronological games [to make the comparison fair], which is why we are more privy to Kiryu's extensive thoughts regarding Saejima in 8 versus two-lines-at-most thoughts re: Majima. Nii-san you're fumbling your relationships-frienships......∠( ᐛ 」∠)_
That being said, I like the push-and-pull situation Majima has with himself regarding Kiryu, because despite trusting him, Majima can never be a 100% comfortable with him. He ends up distancing himself after he succeeds in helping Kiryu, but he doesn't pull-away completely, and that's incompatible with his usual way of navigating relationships. What's more, more than half the time he doesn't even have to make the effort to distance himself because Kiryu does that on his own lmao, and I think that's where Majima's personal conflict comes in because it's not something he decides, it's something Kiryu imposes and that leaves Majima with no choice on the matter before he can even think of being emotionally unavailable lol. Like, he doesn't distance himself from Saejima and Daigo because he's currently helping them and eventually, he might ever "finish" helping them according to his parameters; considering that he's Saejima's kyodai and they're bonded for life [marriage lol] and with Daigo, well, he's his [ex]boss and Kiryu-chan entrusted Daigo-chan to him!
Anyway, this textwall was born due to the fact that it's hilarious that in the end, the fact that Majima can't emotionally detach himself from Kiryu despite his best efforts, makes him really fucking angry in 8. :P
Poetic justice for Makoto and Mirei, the one who abandons becomes chronically-left behind!!! How delightful it is that Majima can never be completely comfortable in company of others ଘ(੭ˊᵕˋ)੭* ੈ✩‧₊˚ I wonder if what's left of 8 [and then Pirate Gaiden] can change my mind...

It's simultaneously heartbreaking and delicious to finally hear Majima order [beg] Kiryu to stay...
My brother was going to start the battle last night, but we watched the opening cutscene and went:
“....”
“lets go to sleep and defeat them tomorrow instead....”
But then we watched the cutscene again before lunch, and only got through the fight after lunch.....painful.....
Nonetheless! the fujo spirit is quite indomitable, so my brother changed Kiryu's job from dancer to host in order to throw a bouquet of flowers at nii-san during the fight (￣ε(#￣)✿╰╮(￣▽￣///)... for plot reasons *angrily wiping our nosebleeds*
On a more serious note, I love that Kiryu projected himself onto 3jimas and it that worked as reverse psychology more or less (?) Like, "I don't want to be a coward like them, but that's how I'm acting right now, so we're all fucking cowards. But I won't allow it, come and fight, you sacks of shit!!!" Or something like that.
I think it helped to put himself and his actions into perspective, in order to prevent Daigo, Saejima & Majima from repeating his mistakes from 6. I don't know... I'd seen people talking trash about the scene prior to watching it myself, but now that I've seen it, hmm, I don't think Kiryu was cruel for the sake of being cruel, but rather as a critique of himself and as a push for the 3jimas. *shrugs*
I also really like that it parallels the Kiryu-Daigo reunion in 2, and that it draws parallels with the idolization from Kiryu→→→Kazama = Daigo→Kiryu (and that it is indeed Daigo who says it). Daigo's partly right that it's an eternal loop of idolizing a bad life by mystifying it, but by not taking responsibility when its due, you leaves loose ends that indirectly help to continue mystifying the yakuza life, just as Kiryu did before. I enjoy that Daigo doesn't want to replicate Kiryu's bad habits, but unintentionally he still replicates them... It hurts that Daigo's first instinct was always to try and help Kiryu before and after the battle... that's his father figure [questionable]... ╥_╥
I was also pleased by the fact that the reasons they get angry at Kiryu are different; Daigo hates having his efforts and hardships overlooked and minimized, just like in the second game (although in 2 it was more self-pity), frustration and anguish aimed at Kiryu are morphed into anger.
Contrary to Saejima, who knows that what they're doing is cowardly which does, in fact, bother him. Yet, he's not particularly angry at Kiryu for calling him out on it, but rather at himself for said course of action PLUS he needed to rectify his ex-boss and kyodai's honor! they had been wronged! lmao. And more importantly, who is Saejima to deny Kiryu a good fight after so long, especially if he thinks it might as well be the last one against Kiryu-chan... honorable Saejima Taiga-chan..... vestiges from Okinawa's beach...*ehem*
Finally.... On a surface level, Majima gets furious at Kiryu for calling him a coward... he's furious at himself for caring about what Kiryu thinks of him... But at the same time, Majima's the only one who didn't treat Kiryu differently after the cancer-reveal-bomb, because he knows Kiryu hates being pitied and coddled by anyone and everyone. Of course he's angry at him for everything that Kiryu put him throughout the years as well, hell, he might be pissed off at the cancer cells as well! It's refreshing and vindicating to finally FINALLY watch Majima get genuinely angry and frustrated at Kiryu AND act on said emotions... yummy. I hope these four old men can get out of this mess....

I really liked that he was hurt and pissed off at the same time, like, I LOVED how he punched Kiryu with all that bitterness while Kiryu-chan took it like a champ... pretty much an "Okay, I deserve it u_u"
Akiyama was truly frustrated at him and Date-san for keeping him in the dark, but also quite defeated at the fact that that's the status quo... and yet, at the same time, he was so relieved to see Kiryu alive... dare I say... unconditional extraordinaire Akiyama-san.
I also found it hilarious that Kiryu had assumed AND accepted that Akiyama didn't want to get further involved with him because he'd already pushed Akiyama away, and he was all pitful like, "Oh well, it's not like he's going to look for me forever, which is fine...... (⇀‸↼‶)"
Like wow. Kiryu-chan really likes being chased, huh?... (inchresting).

I laughed way too hard at that, I think the spanish subtitles deliver the tone much better than the english subtitles ["uh-oh, I-uh, speak outta turn or somethin?"]. Like, Kiryu really stood there for 10 whole seconds gaping at Zhao, and then Zhao called Seonhee-sama a tsundere! This man is too powerful and must be stopped. [please never stop].

All that was missing was Hanawa starting to cry after the whole ordeal, that would've been *chef's kiss* Like sure, he didn't cry, but he was visibly devastated... I absolutely adored how they delivered both: his trembling hands and his trembling voice-- his seiyuu gave it his all !
PLUS Kiryu-chan glancing at him sideways, looking all pitiful, telling Hanawa-chan that he's relieved because Hanawa's the one who's going to execute him...! and Hanawa couldn't stand it at aaaall! Kiryu-chan you're so cruel *angrily wipes my nosebleed*

In CMY wheels, blue-greens are direclty opposed to magenta-reds, so I find the color of their suits truly fascinating, honestly (❤ω❤) I love these type of details re: character design.
It all began when I told my brother to pause the cutscene because the subtitles said "novice", but I heard 青味 (blue-green), so I looked for the scene with Japanese subtitles, and it turns out it was 青二才 [aonisai: novice-greenhorn-immature youth] !! I found it was poetic in its own way, considering there are other synonyms for "beginner" that don't include the kanji for blue/green Σ(O_O)
I love how Ichiban and Masato compliment each other as opposites, the ultimate guide's relationship's chart is the final nail on the coffin with the whole ~LOVE-HATE~ arrow aimed at Ichi from Masato... twisted love......... unrequited too, considering Ichiban REALLY considered him a brother T_T i hate u politician man !!!!

Honestly, it makes me dislike it even more when people say that ~Ichiban's clothes are in direct opposition to Kiryu's classic clothes~ because visually his direct opposite is Masato as I said before. They're throwing Kiryu into the mix when he has nothing to do. The story might parallel the original 2005 one, but the parallels in the story itself are the relationships and fallouts regarding Ichiban+Masato & Kiryu+Nishikiyama, Ichiban and Kiryu are not opposites... in fact, the only time Kiryu directly opposed him was when he intervened before Ichiban was caught in the same path as Nishiki (╯°益°)╯彡┻━┻ I hate it when fans insist on bringing Kiryu into every single onversation! This is Ichiban's game! He's our hero and protagonist!! Besides, Ichi's clothes go into red-magenta territory, not red-brown, unlike Kiryu-chan lol
